- GreenTouch Workshop on energy efficiency issues co-located with ECOC 2010 Conference
- 9/21/2010
GreenTouch is a consortium of leading Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry, academic and non-governmental research experts dedicated to fundamentally transforming communications and data networks, including the Internet, and significantly reducing the carbon footprint of ICT devices, platforms and networks. Its mission is to deliver by 2015 the architecture, specifications and roadmap - and demonstrate key components - needed to increase network energy efficiency by a factor of 1000 from current levels in telecom networks.
The GreenTouch (GT) Consortium is organizing a workshop with the goal to increase the awareness about its initiative to improve energy efficiencyand reduce the carbon footprint of ICT devices, platforms and networks. This workshop will have an emphasis on core optical networks, will be held on Tuesday, September 21st (11:00am - 13:30pm) and will be collocated with the ECOC 2010 Conference in Turin, Italy.
The workshop format will consist of presentations about GreenTouch and its activities (by the chairs of the "GT Technical Committee", the "Applications & Trends Committee", the "Network Committee" and the chairs of the working groups on "Core Networks") and will be followed by a panel discussion to address the question "in what ways can optics be used to create the largest increase in network energy efficiency?"
